Nobody Else Makes It the Way You Make It

People find that annoying at school and it is actually the most interesting fact about human beings.

You have a way of doing things that is yours. Not better. Yours. It shows up in how you draw, how you explain something, how you arrange your room, how you tell a story you have told before.

And you are the only one who has it.

I make music, so this is my whole life. I have watched two people play identical notes on identical instruments and produce two completely different things, and nobody has ever fully explained why.

Somewhere along the way most people get taught that there is a proper way to do things and their way is a deviation from it. That is how you end up doing everything in an accent, which is exhausting and slowly makes you tired of things you used to love.

The way you do it when nobody is telling you how is not you doing it wrong. That is your actual voice.

The world needs the version only you make. That is not a compliment. It is a shortage.
