Some People Hear What Everybody Else Walks Past

That sounds like a riddle. It is not one.

Listening is not the same as hearing. Hearing happens in your ears. Listening happens somewhere else, and some people are extraordinary at it while having very ordinary ears.

You might be one of them. Here is how you would know. You are the one who notices the thing nobody said. You catch when somebody says they are fine in a voice that is not fine. You can tell when a room has changed even though nothing in it moved.

People will tell you that you are imagining things. Sometimes they will be right. Very often they will not be.

I am quiet. People assume that means I am not doing anything. What I am doing is the loudest work I know how to do, and none of it makes a sound.

If you are the quiet one who notices, you have not been sitting things out. You have been working, and nobody told you it counted.

What you notice is not you making things up. It is a real ability, and it has a strength that can be measured.
